This practical workshop will provide an overview of the 2023 WHO Wheelchair Guidelines and the Wheelchair Skills Program, including time in wheelchairs practicing skills.

Learning Objectives:

  • Identify the main components of the new WHO Wheelchair Provision Guidelines.
  • Describe the research evidence underlying the assessment and training protocols of the Wheelchair Skills Program.
  • Perform basic, intermediate, and some advanced wheelchair skills.
  • Safely assess and train people performing such skills.
  • Describe how to implement the WHO Guidelines and Wheelchair Skills Program in their own settings.
  • Identify the main components of the new WHO Wheelchair Provision Guidelines.
