SPECIAL SYMPOSIUM: 8th Annual Women in Rehabilitation Science Symposium S4

Proceed past the lobby elevators and turn right to enter the West Wing. Proceed down the corridor, turn right and then left. De Soto A is the second room on the right.
Understanding and addressing workplace sexual harassment within the diverse rehabilitation workforce is a major immediate and long-term priority to advance Accessibility, Diversity, Equity and Inclusion (ADEI) in the rehabilitation medicine field. Appropriate sexual harassment preventive measures, awareness, education, training, and education approaches are needed to ensure rehabilitation medicine workplace safety and equality to develop and implement an inclusive and respectful workplace climate.
Thus, the goals of the 8th Annual Women in Rehabilitation Science Special Symposium are to discuss 1) current implicit and explicit gender bias in the workplace with a focus on sexual harassment data from rehabilitation professionals (Proffitt 2024); 2) how the different sexual harassment experiences have affected the wellbeing and career development of the victims, and 3) solutions and approaches at all levels to prevent such predatory behavior in the rehabilitation field.
