Yoga has been found beneficial for physical and mental health in various populations. However, no systematic review has summarized the overall evidence including grey literature, and all quantitative study designs in individuals with ABI. The purpose of this systematic review was to conduct a comprehensive examination of the evidence on the effect of yoga for individuals with ABI.

Among 28 reviewed studies, 27 studies reported positive outcome on at least one of the measures. While yoga interventions seem to be promising in individuals with ABI, the low RoB scores on the 25 studies indicated that the quality of the studies showed the need for improvement.

Future studies should focus on large high-quality controlled trials with a manualized yoga intervention to reduce risk of bias. We concluded that a weak but promising body of evidence shows yoga interventions can benefit individuals with ABI especially in the chronic stage of the recovery.
