Worldwide, an estimated 295 million adults live with a form of vision loss, and by 2025 this number is expected to more than double. In adults with acquired brain injury, 65-79% report visual disturbance, but these impairments are often overlooked. Vision loss secondary to stroke is one the most common forms of disability, though, challenges related to vision loss are vulnerable to being underrecognized, underassessed, and undertreated within many rehabilitation systems. This symposium will review key components essential to a discharge plan to support clients with varying degrees of vision loss resume participation in their daily routines and roles. Themes will include available clinical specialists, technological resources, and the psychological impact of vision loss.
