Tinkering is a necessary but undervalued professional competence that rehabilitation practitioners use while treating persons with disorders of consciousness. It is a caring practice that includes curiosity, experimentation, trying things, remaining flexible and adapting to the complexity of the DoC environment. Tinkering as a professional practice is understudied. This symposium will introduce this important practice via our research data and clinical expertise.
