Given the technological advances in overground robotic exoskeletons (ORE), there may be a place for their use as a tool to reduce barriers to early mobility for patients with neurological injury in the acute care hospital setting. This presentation will describe this project in three phases: 1) Planning Phase [determining inclusion criteria (patients with stroke, SCI, or TBI who were medically stable and fit exoskeleton frame requirements) and appropriate outcome measures (adverse events, ORE tolerability, and JH-HLM)], 2) Data Collection [enrollment of participants (n=4 stroke, 3=SCI, 4=TBI) completing 13 ORE sessions], and 3) Evaluation (reconciliation of adverse events and refinement of project processes and aims). This presentation will detail the potential of ORE to reduce barriers in the delivery of EM after neurological injury and discuss future efforts to determine the safety and feasibility of implementation of ORE in the acute care hospital setting.
