Proactively integrating virtual healthcare resources into clinical care workflow and delivery has been a critical transformation effort for over a decade in the Veterans Health Administration. While the use of virtual technologies is becoming normalized, using Human-Centered Design, implementation, policy & best practices can facilitate proactive virtual healthcare resource use across the healthcare continuum, over time facilitating a cultural transformation. The primary objective of this symposia is to describe a multi-model approach across an enterprise, over a decade, to promote uptake, spread, and adoption of virtual healthcare resources, using Human-Centered Design, implementation, policy & best practices. The aims are to provide the audience with the historical and theoretical context and an engaging review of Veterans Health Administration based implementation projects that characterized the use, efficient system utilization, and change management practices to promote VHR culture transformation.

Learning Objectives:

• Describe the cultural transformation of proactively integrating virtual healthcare resources into clinical care workflows within the Veterans Health Administration
• Apply the strategies, tools, and practices presented to facilitate spread of virtual healthcare resources into clinical care workflows and settings
• Use Human Centered Design strategies to promote uptake, spread, and adoption of virtual healthcare resource technologies for system-wide change
• Describe a targeted approach for selecting implementation strategies to address determinants for user and system-wide needs
• Identify key components for contextualizing determinants and developing best practices for creating a culture of superusers for the future of learning healthcare systems
