This symposium demonstrates a novel, wearable technology that enables an "inside view" of the patient and enhance outcomes after stroke. To address the difficulties faced in improving recovery rates, this symposium proposes a fresh look at how we have approached movement and neuroplastic change thus far. It aims to use wearable technology to a) demonstrate how the brain and muscles interact with each other during therapy b) demonstrate scenarios when the brain and muscle oppose or support each other, and c) demonstrate how effective rehabilitation sessions can be delivered in a digitally guided manner in-clinic and remotely at home. This method addresses cognitive and physical deficits, providing physiological benefits by reducing compensating or hyperactive muscle activity and enhancing cognitive functions such as working memory, sequential planning, and executive control.
