Sport related concussion (SRC) is a complex injury; therefore, it is important that children and young adults, especially those at risk for SRC, parents, and other community members partner to find solutions to SRC screening, diagnosis, and treatment challenges. Including engagement partners in patient centered outcomes research (PCOR) and comparative effectiveness research (CER) offers a diverse and real-world perspective on challenges and solutions to SRC care that may reduce recovery time and the risk of developing long-term effects after SRC. However, engagement partners, especially children and young adults, are not typically included in PCOR/CER to identify meaningful SRC research questions. Without engagement partners, researchers’ efforts to complete meaningful PCOR and CER is limited. This symposium will describe: (1) our process of engaging partners in PCOR, (2) our patient centered research agenda on SRC screening, diagnosis, and treatment, and (3) our partners’ experiences collaborating to develop a patient centered research agenda.
