The purpose of this presentation is to explore the personal factors that correlate with satisfaction with labor market participation (SLMP) among cancer survivors who are considered to have a disability under the ADA Amendments Act of 2008. Together, the continued barriers to employment and mixed findings regarding job satisfaction among cancer survivors suggest the need to understand the personal factors at play. Results from this exploratory study provide insight into possible correlates of SLMP. Particularly, supporting unemployed cancer survivors through vocational rehabilitation and a focus on self-employment among those with secondary education shows promise in promoting SLMP of cancer survivors. However, more robust research should be conducted to determine the nature of the relationships between these predictors and SLMP and to investigate the impact of clinical, social, and environmental factors on SLMP of cancer survivors. Attendees will explore the implications from this research and future directions in this session.
