Application of the Neural Diathesis-stress Model in Predicting and Treating Disinhibited Sexual Behavior Following Severe Traumatic Brain Injury 4512

Despite the prevalence of disinhibited behavior following severe traumatic brain injury (sTBI), disinhibited sexual behavior (DSB) is relatively understudied. This symposium will review the application of the Neural Diathesis-Stress Model for conceptualizing, predicting, and treating DSB following sTBI in a rehabilitation context. Presenters will offer an updated model for appreciating this sequelae of behavior with consideration for developmental, psychiatric, and neurological features of individuals who demonstrate DSB following sTBI. Recommendations for combined pharmacological and nonpharmacological interventions will be offered.
