Yi-An Chen is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Occupational Therapy at Georgia State University (GSU). Chen’s main research interest focuses on using technology to provide home-based interventions and assessments to individuals with neurological conditions, such as stroke and Parkinson’s disease. She has been collaborating with researchers from GSU School of Music, Communication Sciences, Georgia Tech, and Emory University on home-based training (e.g., Music-Based Therapy) and ecological assessments (e.g., wrist-worn accelerometers for daily hand use) to promote upper extremity recovery and functional behavior in individuals with upper extremity impairments. Chen had her OT training and earned a Master’s degree in OT in Taiwan. She further pursued her PhD in Biokinesiology at the University of Southern California, concentrating on neurorehabilitation. She completed her postdoc training at GSU Physical Therapy Department, focusing on telerehabilitation in stroke.
