Medical Student
University of Nevada, Reno
I am a current Medical Student at University of Nevada, Reno and am planning to apply to PM&R for residency. I am originally from California. My previous education before medical school includes a master’s in sports medicine and exercise science from the University of Glasgow in Scotland, a biochemistry bachelor’s degree from Dominican University of California, and a study abroad program at Regents University London. Throughout my undergraduate experience, I played NCAA division II softball and focused on research in breast cancer targeted therapy. As a medical student, I have a scholarly concentration in wilderness medicine, and was elected as the curriculum committee cochair. I also was selected as head student instructor STEP tutor, and was a leader of the sports medicine and PM&R student interest groups. I have continued my interest in research working in a neuroscience lab focusing on concussion management and physiology at UNR, and have completed research on exercise and sedentary behavior in disease processes using the UK biobank. In addition to these extracurricular activities, I have continued to volunteer for Make-a-Wish and the Northern Nevada Down Syndrome Network.
