Dr. Julie Hunley is an Associate Professor of Occupational Therapy at Mount Mary University in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, teaching and advising doctoral student research. She holds a Ph.D. in Kinesiology from the University of Wisconsin – Madison and a M.S. in Occupational Therapy from Rush University in Chicago, Illinois. She has been an occupational therapist for 28 years, with the majority of her clinical experience in breast cancer-related lymphedema. She completed initial lymphedema training with Albert LeDuc in 1997, followed by advanced courses from Guenther Klose, Bruno Chikly, and others. She serves the Lymphology Association of North America on their board of directors and is the Research and Publications Committee Chairperson. Her research focuses on breast cancer-related lymphedema and managing chronic disease risk factors, especially among high-risk populations. Most recently, she has investigated risk reduction strategies for breast cancer-related lymphedema.
