Melissa Smith, PT, DPT is a research physical therapist at the Center for Gene Therapy at Nationwide Children's Hospital. She received her doctorate in physical therapy from the University of Miami and completed advanced training in pediatric care through the developmental pediatric physical therapy residency at Nationwide Children’s Hospital. She then received her specialty board certification in pediatric physical therapy in 2023. She worked clinically in developmental outpatient, aquatics, and specialty clinics before joining the Lowes Lab at the Center for Gene Therapy in 2023. Current focuses include research in outcome measure development and natural history studies of neuromuscular and other rare disorders as well as specialty clinic care in the NCH Neuromuscular, SMA, and MDA clinics.
