Alaina Nickerl is a dedicated Occupational Therapy Doctoral student at Georgia State University. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in Anthropology from Utah State University and is a proud member of Pi Theta Epsilon (PTE), the national honor society for occupational therapy students and alumni. Alaina serves as a Graduate Research Assistant under the direction of Yi-An Chen, PhD, MS, OTR/L, on cutting-edge research concerning stroke rehabilitation. Together, they are exploring the efficacy of commercial fitness trackers like Fitbit and Apple in measuring upper extremity movements in stroke rehabilitation, comparing their accuracy to the 'gold standard' Actigraph. Alaina is passionate about advancing rehabilitation techniques and integrating innovative technology to enhance patient outcomes.
