Deanna Lusty, PT, ATP/SMS, has worked at Children’s Health in Dallas, Texas for twenty-one years. She currently is a physical therapy team leader in the Rehabilitation and Therapy Services department at the Cityville location where she leads a team involved in using cutting edge technology for serving the health system’s mission of Making Life Better for Children.
Deanna has a special interest in assistive technology and is a member of the Rehabilitation Engineering and Assistive Technology Society of North America (RESNA), where she attained her Assistive Technology Professional and Seating and Mobility Specialist certifications from. She has been a presenter at International Seating Symposium and co-authored a chapter on Seating Evaluation in the Handbook of Pediatric Rehabilitation Medicine. She has been an advisor for product innovation and development for mobility equipment used in the United States and in less resourced settings, such as Kenya, and has led the development of a long-term sustainable wheelchair project in the Dominican Republic.
Deanna is a lifelong Texan and holds a BA degree in Biology from the University of Dallas and a Master’s in Physical Therapy from University of Texas Medical Branch.
