Claudio Semplicini, MD, PhD, is the Medical Director of Moveo, Padova, Italy.
Dr. Semplicini graduated cum laude in 2007 from the University of Padova Medical School, where he also completed his Neurology residency program (2013) and he earned the PhD in Medical, Clinical and Experimental Sciences (subspecialty Neuroscience, mentor Prof. Pegoraro, 2017). From 2013 to 2023, Dr. Semplicini was actively involved in clinical work at the Neurology Unit of the University Hospital of Padua and at the Neurology Unit of S. Antonio Hospital (2018 - 2023). His primary focus areas included neuromuscular diseases, neurophysiology, emergency neurology, and cerebrovascular diseases.
He conducted research on neuromuscular diseases both in Italy (under the supervision of Prof. C. Angelini and Prof. E. Pegoraro) and abroad (Prof. Pascal Laforet, “Pitié-Salpêtrière” Hospital, Paris), participating in numerous national and international projects with leading centers for muscle diseases on Pompe disease, Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophies, Dystrophinopathies, calcium-related myopathies.
Dr. Semplicini is primary author or coauthor of 55 research papers and 2 chapters of scientific books (h index 24, citations 1448). He has presented his work at national and international meetings, including American Academy of Neurology (2013), World Muscle Society Congress (2017), International Congress on Neuromuscular Diseases (2010), Italian Society of Neurology Congress (2008- 2018), Italian Association of Myology Congress (2009-2023) and others.
He has received several national and international scientific awards, including the Best Presentation Award at the AIM Congress 2016 and the International Scholarship Award from the American Academy of Neurology in 2013. Dr. Semplicini obtained the European certification of "Fellow of the European Board of Neurology" (European Academy of Neurology, Berlin, 2015) and the National Scientific Qualification for the role of Associate Professor in 2019.
In 2023 he became Medical and Scientific director of Moveo, an Italian startup committed to enhancing mobility for individuals in need.
