Dr. Stokic earned a medical degree from the Faculty of Medicine, University of Belgrade, Serbia in 1987, where he also completed a residency in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (1991) and earned a doctoral degree (2005). From 1991 until 1997, he was a postdoctoral fellow and research associate in the Division of Restorative Neurology & Human Neurobiology at Baylor College of Medicine, Houston, TX. Dr. Stokic joined the Methodist Rehabilitation Center, in Jackson, MS in 1997 to establish a research program. Currently, he is a Vice-President of Research and Innovation, a senior scientist at the Center for Neuroscience and Neurological Recovery, the research arm of Methodist Rehab, and an affiliate professor in the Department of Neurosurgery and the Program in Neuroscience at the University of Mississippi Medical Center.
He has published over 120 peer-reviewed articles and currently serves as the Editor-in-Chief for the International Journal of Rehabilitation Research.
