Judith M. Burnfield, PhD, PT, is the Vice President of Research, Clifton Chair in Physical Therapy and Movement Science, and Director of the Institute for Rehabilitation Science and Engineering at Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals. She is a nationally recognized physical rehabilitation clinician, researcher and scholar. Dr. Burnfield completed her physical therapy degree at the State University of New York at Buffalo, her PhD in Biokinesiology at the University of Southern California, and her postdoctoral studies at the Los Amigos Research and Education Institute in California. Dr. Burnfield directs Madonna Rehabilitation Hospitals’ Model System of Rehabilitation Care for Patients Post-COVID-19. She also serves as an advisor for a multi-center study examining outcomes of COVID-19 patients cared for in long-term acute care hospitals. Dr. Burnfield has served as principal investigator for multiple federal grants and has over 75 peer-reviewed manuscript publications and numerous book chapters in areas relevant to physical rehabilitation.
