Dr. Agtarap is a research psychologist whose interests broadly include the interplay between psychologically resilient processes and physical recovery among individuals and their family members after traumatic injury. Her recent work centers around the role of internal (appraisal, coping) and external (social, environmental) factors that affect mental health and community participation after traumatic brain injury, to find areas of intervention for psychosocial adjustment and ultimate growth. She has methodological expertise in prospective longitudinal designs and latent factor analyses to track psychological functioning over time mixed with qualitative components to characterize constructs within culturally relevant experiences, and to accurately assess psychosocial recovery for populations experiencing health inequity.
