Monica Coran Kuns, M.A., CCC-SLP, CBIS is a speech language pathologist with Good Shepherd Penn Partners. She has 6 years of experience as a speech language pathologist having worked in various settings such as skilled nursing, acute care/acute rehab, and outpatient rehab. She has spent the majority of her career thus far working in a multi-disciplinary outpatient clinic treating adults with numerous neurological conditions, some of which include stroke, brain injury, Post-Acute Sequela of Covid-19, and Parkinson’s Disease. Monica’s areas of specialization focus on cognitive-communication skills and aphasia rehabilitation. She holds a number of certifications related to adult neurological rehabilitation, including certified brain injury specialist, the McNeill Dysphagia Therapy Program, the Guardian Way NMES/sEMG system, and SPEAK OUT!.
She has previously published and presented on aphasia treatment, including a novel approach to treatment using word learning to observe functional communication changes and better understand white matter connectivity in the post-stroke population. Monica is a facilitator of the Good Shepherd Penn Partners Aphasia Support Group and a board member of the Aphasia Resource Collaboration Hub (ARCH) Network. She has completed multiple guest lectures on the topics of Covid-19 and post-stroke cognitive-communication intervention to local graduate programs. Monica is also an adjunct faculty member in clinical supervision at LaSalle University.
