Dr. Mackenzi Pergolotti is the Vice President of Outcomes and Research for the Outpatient Division of Select Medical, an adjunct professor at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and affiliate faculty member at Colorado State University in Fort Collins, Colorado, USA.
Dr. Pergolotti holds a bachelor’s and master’s degree in occupational therapy from Russel Sage College and Sage Graduate School. As an occupational therapist, Dr. Pergolotti worked for more than 10 years in multiple clinical settings, including Memorial Sloan-Kettering Cancer Center (MSKCC) in New York City, developing programs aimed to better address the needs of adults and children with cancer. Considering the impact of cancer rehabilitation, she was driven to build the evidence-base and increase access to cancer rehabilitation.
At the University of North Carolina (UNC), Dr. Pergolotti obtained her Ph.D. in occupational science with a predoctoral fellowship at the Cecil G. Sheps Center for Health Services Research. Her first post-doctoral fellowship was at the UNC Gilling’s School of Global Health in Department of Health Policy and Management, with a second at Lineberger Comprehensive Cancer Center in the Cancer Outcomes program. There, she investigated utilization, access to and the quality of cancer rehabilitation.
After her training and before joining Select Medical, Dr. Pergolotti worked as a tenure-track assistant professor at Colorado State University (CSU) in the department of occupational therapy for two years and remains adjunct at both UNC and CSU. She is also the Chair of the Cancer Rehabilitation Networking Group of the American Congress of Rehabilitation Medicine, a member of the Cancer and Aging Research Group (CARG) and CARG- Advocacy.
Over her career, Dr. Pergolotti has published over 70 peer-reviewed manuscripts and speaks nationally and internationally on patient-reported outcomes, health services research and cancer rehabilitation.
