Dr. Stefanie N. Howell is Senior Neuroscientist/Director of Research Integration at the Centre for Neuro Skills. She received her doctorate in Cognitive and Behavioral Neuroscience from George Mason University under the training of Dr. Jane M. Flinn. During that time, her research focused on the roles of transition metals in exacerbation of Alzheimer’s disease and TBI neuropathology, using pre-clinical models. She has been with the Centre for Neuro Skills since 2016 and has since then focused her research on strategies for facilitating recovery after stroke and TBI. Current studies include examining long-term effects of TBI, identification and treatment of sleep and neuroendocrine disturbances post- brain injury, and the use of transcranial direct current stimulation in conjunction with rehabilitation in post-acute TBI.
