Data Scientist
Battelle
Columbus, Ohio, United States
Collin Dunlap is a data scientist at Battelle focused on designing, developing, and translating neurotechnology. He has a broad background in biomedical engineering with expertise in biosignal analysis, machine learning, and both software and hardware systems integration for medical devices. His doctoral research focused on user-centric software improvements to brain-computer interface (BCI) systems that enhance usability and user independence. In addition to several years of experience working in clinical environments, engaging directly with patients and clinicians to guide technological development, he collaborates in multidisciplinary teams at Battelle focused on rapid technology translation. Through bridging these diverse perspectives, he has led the design of several new technologies including calibration techniques for high-density functional electrical stimulation (FES) systems. Furthermore, he has applied machine learning and biosignal analysis expertise to high-density electromyography (EMG) research to advance EMG decoding performance for individuals with stroke and spinal cord injury. He is committed to translating neurotechnology to improve quality of life for individuals with neurological conditions.
