Dr. Cate Dorr is an Occupational Therapist with over 13 years in clinical practice and holds a Doctoral degree in Occupational Therapy and a Masters of Science in Global Medicine from the University of Southern California. Dr. Dorr serves as a Captain in the United States Army Medical Specialist Corps and is an expert in the therapeutic role of canines to optimize the delivery of human healthcare. With close to two decades of experience in Human-Animal Interactions, she has lectured nationally and internationally on the benefits of Assistance Dogs and Canine Facilitated Interventions™, a concept she designed, for individuals with profound injuries, illnesses, and disabilities.
Over the past decade, Dr. Dorr has launched multiple Hospital Facility Dog and CFI™ programs around the world at pediatric, civilian, and military hospitals. She has also created a nationally approved CFI™ continuing education course for the American Occupational Therapy Association and regularly collaborates with numerous Assistance Dog organizations to identify and implement best practices within the field of Human-Canine Interactions. Dr. Dorr is the Founder and Executive Director of Facility Dogs International, a 501c3 organization, which supports education, research, and best practices for Canine Facilities Interventions™ to organizations around the world.
