Caroline Barmatz is a registered physiotherapist, Israel. She completed a Master of Health Administration at Ben Gurion University and works in an administrative, managerial, clinical, research position as Director of the hydrotherapy department at Sheba Medical Center, Israel. Currently a PhD candidate at James Cook University, Australia, researching the safety and efficacy of early movement in water for critical care patients released from Intensive Care Units. Caroline has specialized in Aquatic Physical Therapy with over 40 years of clinical experience in pediatric and adult in and outpatient rehabilitation departments. She is an active member of the international organization of aquatic physical therapists (IOAPT), the international Halliwick association (IHA), the Israel Physiotherapy Society (IPTS) and other global interest groups. Caroline has been a lecturer in under-graduate and post-graduate hydrotherapy courses educating over 300 students per annum at universities and colleges in Israel since 1994. Caroline’s contributions to the field of aquatic physical therapy have earned her international recognition as a leader in the field. Caroline has authored chapters in four aquatic therapy- related textbooks (Hydrotherapy, Hemophilia, Rett Syndrome and Spinal Cord Injuries) and has published original research on topics related to rehabilitation in aquatic settings. Caroline is a Blue Mind ambassador practicing “Water Is Medicine”, involved in pool design and management. Caroline’s career objective is to create a legacy of the use of water for rehabilitation.
