Mark Halvorsen, is the Seminole Spirit Brain Injury Support Group Founder. Mr. Halvorsen, is a 1999 Traumatic Brain Injury survivor, advocate and global speech language leader. Starting in 2005, Mark along with his,outpatient SLP, Speech Language Pathologist developed the first "Speech Craft Toastmasters" group dedicated at helping brain injury survivors grow in their cognitive speech communication ways. Members presented short speeches bi-weekly in person at meetings. In 2007, as a Navy veteran and TBI survivor, Mark began peer counseling our veterans from Afghanistan, "Operation Enduring Freedom" and Iraq, "Operation Iraq Freedom" at the Atlanta Georgia Veterans Administeration. In 2016, Mark was trained by GSGA, Georgia State Golf Association to be a adaptive coaching ambassador helping brain injury survivors, including veterans adapt to the recreational game of golf helping with their recoveries. Today, Mark leads, promotes and directs monthly 9 hole golf scrambles at Bobby Jones Golf course in Atlanta Georgia. On the personal side of Mark's life he has been married to his high school sweetheart Maureen Halvorsen for over 42 years having 3 children and 5 grandchildren.
