Associate Professor Roxanna Nasseri Pebdani, (PhD, CRC, SFHEA) is Director of Participation Sciences and Rehabilitation Counselling Program Director in the School of Health Sciences at The University of Sydney. She has been a Certified Rehabilitation Counselor since 2008 and a Senior Fellow of the Higher Education Academy since 2021. Her research, teaching, and leadership activities have a common thread of equity and inclusion. Dr. Pebdani’s research interests are in access to sex, sexuality, pregnancy and fertility for individuals with disability. Her other streams of research include cultural competency and pedagogy in rehabilitation counselling. She has authored or co-authored over 50 journal articles, book chapters, and reports and has conducted over 50 presentations at local, national, and international conferences. She has also obtained over $814,000 in competitive research funding. Dr Pebdani teaches on assessment in rehabilitation counselling and gender and intersectionality in health and exercise. She chairs the University of Sydney’s Science in Australia Gender Equity Career Progression Working Group and is on the board of the Rehabilitation Counselling Association of Australasia. She is a mother of two and an avid runner and cyclist.
