Vallejo, CA, United States
Jovita Guzman, OTR/L, is the Occupational Therapy Supervisor at Kaiser Foundation Rehabilitation Center (KFRC), with 10 years of experience helping patients with neurological disorders. Jovita earned her Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Dominican University of California. As an OT with a background in public health, community health and home modifications, Jovita has a passion for ensuring that a holistic approach is taken when working with patients, families, and caregivers. Specifically, Jovita enjoys studying the impact our environment has on one’s behavior, mood, overall health and well-being. She has taken this knowledge to guide her therapeutic interventions, especially when working with patients with brain injuries – a patient population she feels passionate about. Jovita has also used this knowledge to design and implement The Loop at KFRC, an interactive patient activity that promotes physical, cognitive, and guided imagery exercises using artwork and displays located throughout the rehab center. Jovita is now looking forward to assisting in the development and implementation of the Smart Home Technology Apartment into patients rehab recovery process, along with her colleagues, with the goal to promote safety, independence in BADLs and IADLs and quality of life, while reducing burden of care for families and caregivers.
