Dr. Mary Vargo is Professor of Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation (PM&R) at MetroHealth Medical Center, Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, Cleveland, OH. Her clinical practice focuses on cancer rehabilitation medicine and lymphedema as well as on brain injury medicine, concussion, and testing of nerve and muscle function. She is director of cancer rehabilitation at MetroHealth. Dr. Vargo is board certified in Physical Medicine and Rehabilitation, Electrodiagnostic Medicine, and Brain Injury Medicine. She has authored and coauthored numerous papers, chapters, reviews related to cancer rehabilitation, including in recent years serving as Co-chair of the American Academy of PM&R’s PM&R Bold initiative for cancer rehabilitation, defining Core Services for cancer rehabilitation, and creating a Cancer Rehabilitation Curriculum. She continues to participate in activities locally and nationally to advocate for meeting the rehabilitation needs of cancer patients and survivors. She is involved education related to cancer rehabilitation at multiple levels, especially graduate medical education for PM&R residents.
