Speech Pathologist, Coordinator, Hrbek-Sing AAC and Assistive Technology Program
Kate Nilson MS, CCC-SLP is a Speech Language Pathologist with over 15 years of experience working with adults with neurological and neurodegenerative disorders. Starting her career in long-term care followed by many years in home care working with a wide variety of diagnoses, she found her passion for Augmentative-Alternative Communication (AAC). This passion led her to the specific diagnosis of ALS (Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis). She is the Speech Language Pathologist at the University of Minnesota's ALS Clinic of Excellence as well as an instructor in the University of Minneasota's Speech Language and Hearing Department where she teaches the Augmentative-Alternative Communication course. Additionally, she is a Care Services Manager at the ALS Association where she provides support to those living with ALS in their AAC and Voice Preservation needs. Kate holds her Certificate of Clinical Competence in Speech Language Pathology and is a member of ASHA Special Interest Group 12 (AAC).
