Traumatic brain injury (TBI) is associated with many chronic conditions and disabilities, including mental health conditions.[1] Service Members and Veterans (SMVs) specifically form a demographic at highest risk for TBI and associated mental health comorbidities. Mental Health treatment can be effective in not only treating comorbidities but also contribute to greater life satisfaction among SMVs. Treatment delivery is impacted by several physical, social, and psychological facilitators and barriers in this population. Understanding the service needs of individuals with TBI is critical for leveraging facilitators and overcoming barriers to mental health treatment delivery. This symposium will highlight three studies with findings related to mental health conditions, brain injury, and barriers and facilitators to accessing services among SMVs.
