Emily is an Assistant Professor at Northwestern University Feinberg School of Medicine Department in Physical Therapy and Human Movement Sciences. She shares her expertise in the DPT curriculum, residency and fellowships, and MD program through teaching and research in the areas of professionalism, leadership, and practice management. As the Director of the Leadership Hub of the NU-CHAPTER Lab, she actively leads the translation of leadership research from education into clinical practice. As the Director of Communications, Development, and Alumni Relations, she leads the department’s development and communications related to the growth and expansion of key clinical strategies and relationships including a formal partnership within the Northwestern Medicine Health System and expansion of business education with the Kellogg School of Management at Northwestern University.
Emily has nearly 25 years of experience in the physical therapist field in rehabilitation service roles, including direct care provider, quality assurance manager, facility manager, academic clinical coordinator for a physical therapy assistant program, Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy exam item writer, Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy exam task force member, a Reviewer of Continued Competence for Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, and consultant as an expert witness. She serves in physical therapy as a Representative for the Academy of Leadership and Innovation to the APTA House of Delegates. She has held several previous roles in APTA Illinois, the Federation of State Boards of Physical Therapy, and the APTA Academy of Leadership and Innovation including Education Chair for Combined Sections Meeting, LAMP Management Committee Member, Co-chair for the LAMP Institute of Leadership, and previous Director of Leadership, Management, and Payment and Practice on the Executive Board of the Academy of Leadership and Innovation. Her passion is the development and leadership in elevating the collective leadership within the physical therapy profession.
