Dr. Robert L. Parisien, a Board Certified Orthopaedic Sports Medicine Surgeon at Mount Sinai in New York City, specializes in Sports Medicine, Cartilage Restoration & Repair and Minimally Invasive Arthroscopic Surgery of the Shoulder, Elbow, Hip and Knee. Dr. Parisien serves as a Team Physician for the US Ski & Snowboard and USA Fencing teams and previously provided court-side care as a Player Physician at the US Open Tennis Championships in NYC.
Dr. Parisien is triple Fellowship trained having completed specialized training in Minimally Invasive Hip Surgery at Harvard Medical School, specialized training in Sports Medicine & Cartilage Restoration at the University of Pennsylvania where he served as a Team Physician for the NCAA Division-I Penn Quakers and specialized training in Sports Medicine & Shoulder Surgery at Boston University where he served as a Team Physician for the NCAA Division-I BU Terriers.
Dr. Parisien is an Ivy League alumnus having completed his undergraduate studies at Brown University where he was the recipient of the Frederick “Fritz” Pollard Award, Ernest T. Savignano Memorial Scholar-Athlete Award and won an Ivy-League championship as a member of the Brown Bears football team. Dr. Parisien later earned his Medical Doctorate from the Tufts University School of Medicine in Boston, MA.
Dr. Parisien has published over 100 scientific manuscripts, reviews and book chapters and his research has been presented at over 100 national and regional orthopaedic meetings. In recognition of his research, Dr. Parisien has been the recipient of the Margulis Award for Scientific Excellence, OSET Basic Science Research Award, Kilfoyle Research Award, Arciero-Warner Research Award, AOA Research Award in Sports Medicine, Eastern Orthopaedic Association Research Award, New England Orthopaedic Society Research Award, EOEF Anil S. Ranawat M.D. Donor Grant Award, Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association Research Award and has been recognized as a Clinician Scholar by the Orthopaedic Research Society.
Dr. Parisien holds numerous leadership positions as a Diplomate of the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgery, member of the Council of Delegates for the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, a Trustee of the Board of Athletes Soul, Associate Editor of the Journal of Cartilage & Joint Preservation, Editorial Board Member of both the Journal of Arthroscopy and the Journal of Sport Rehabilitation. Dr. Parisien serves as a member of the Research Committees for both the American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine and the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Surgical Skills Committee, Communications and Technology Committee and the International Committee for the Arthroscopy Association of North America, the Executive Committee for the New England Orthopaedic Society and a Committee Member for the Eastern Orthopaedic Association and the Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons. Dr. Parisien previously served on the Board of Directors of the Massachusetts Orthopaedic Association and currently serves as an active member of the American Academy of Orthopaedic Surgeons, American Orthopaedic Society for Sports Medicine, Arthroscopy Association of North America, International Society for Hip Arthroscopy, International Cartilage Regeneration and Joint Preservation Society, Eastern Orthopaedic Association, Society of Military Orthopaedic Surgeons, the International Society of Arthroscopy, Knee Surgery & Orthopaedic Sports Medicine and the New England Orthopaedic Society.
