Mark Bowden is the Vice President of Clinical Integration and Research for Brooks Rehabilitation in Jacksonville, FL. Dr. Bowden received his physical therapy degree from Duke University in 1995, and after 8 years of clinical practice and management, received his PhD from the University of Florida in 2009. He completed a Fellowship in the APTA Education Leadership Institute in 2014 prior to assuming the role of Professor and Director of the Physical Therapy Division at the Medical University of South Carolina, where he served from 2017 to 2022. Dr. Bowden’s research focuses on recovery of walking after stroke and emphasizes biomechanical mechanisms of movement impairment as well as neurophysiological assessment and treatment. Dr. Bowden is currently co-leading the development of a Clinical Practice Guideline focusing on improving locomotor function after acute and sub-acute neurologic injury. In his role at Brooks Rehabilitation, Dr. Bowden leads the efforts to integrate current research and best practice into the clinical environment and to develop the organization-wide learning health system for post-acute care.
