Dr. Mathis is an Associate Professor at the University of Central Arkansas in the Physical Therapy Department with a teaching emphasis in Professional Development, Clinical Administration, Patient Management and Documentation, Research Practicums and Prosthetics. Formerly, Dr. Mathis was an Associate Professor of Physical Therapy for 12 years where she served additionally as the Director of Clinical Education. Dr. Mathis' teaching emphasis at Harding University was in Foundational Clinical Skills, General Medical Post-Surgical, Clinical Reasoning 1, Orthotics and Prosthetics, and Clinical Education. Dr. Mathis has been a Physical Therapist for 25 years with clinical experience in a variety of settings including in-patient rehabilitation, outpatient, acute care, and pediatrics. Dr. Mathis’ research interests include adolescent female athletes, exercise and diabetes, increasing function and quality of life for amputees, and community dwelling older adults. Dr. Mathis presently serves as the Membership Chair for the APTA AR Component and was recently awarded a grant from the APTA for membership growth initiatives.
