Tasnia Alam holds a Bachelor’s degree in Neuroscience and served as a research assistant in Dr. Jimenez’s lab, contributing to the 1stBIEN and S-Project. Prior to this role, Tasnia worked as a medical assistant at a Pain Management clinic, where she assisted in procedures and provided support during clinic visits to alleviate patient discomfort. During her undergraduate years, she volunteered as a research assistant in two labs studying human perception and eyewitness testimonies. Additionally, she participated in a Spanish-Medicine program in Chile, which broadened her understanding of medical practices across different cultures. With aspirations to attend medical school and specialize as a Pediatric Neurologist, Tasnia’s work in Dr. Jimenez’s lab exposed her to the social disparities faced by diverse cultural groups in healthcare. This experience influenced her commitment to addressing health disparities through research and medical practice, aiming to improve healthcare outcomes for marginalized communities.
