Andrew A. Guccione is Professor Emeritus, George Mason University and former chair of the Department of Rehabilitation Science. In addition to authoring or co-authoring over 80 manuscripts in peer-reviewed journals and numerous national and international presentations, he has received grant funding from the Foundation for Physical Therapy and the Arthritis Foundation and was the recipient of a Special Emphasis Research Career Award from the National Institute on Aging. His clinical and research interests have centered on optimizing movement in older adults and the physiological and functional outcomes of performance-based approaches to rehabilitation. He edited three editions of Geriatric Physical Therapy and has served on several editorial boards including Archives of Physiotherapy and Arthritis Care and Research. Dr. Guccione was elected a Catherine Worthingham Fellow of the American Physical Therapy Association in 1998. He was honored with the Association’s Rothstein Award for Scientific Writing and delivered the 41st McMillan Lecture in 2010.
