Stephen is on the faculty at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center, Dallas as an Instructor in the division of Psychology/Department of Psychiatry. His main focus in research of concussions in those aged 5 and older. He earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of Science in Education from Baylor University. Upon graduation from Baylor, Stephen became Texas State licensed and NATA certified as an Athletic Trainer. He worked in multiple school districts as an Athletic Trainer and with USA Olympic Sport Associations. While working full time as a secondary school athletic trainer, he completed a Doctor of Education from the University of North Texas. Much of his research and professional development has been focused on sport concussion and mTBI. As a member of the UT Southwestern research faculty, he has had the opportunity to learn and collaborate with faculty long with mentoring graduate and medical students. Key projects Stephen is directing at UTSW are the ConTex and Care4Kids youth concussion investigations and the LIMBIC MATARS study. He is currently a member of the Education Committee of the Concussion in Sport Group.
