Pyung Kim is a Ph.D. candidate in Public Policy and Political Economy at the University of Texas at Dallas, where he was admitted with the highest honors. His research focuses on spatial epidemiology and policy evaluation. Using GIS, he identifies areas requiring policy interventions, while employing spatial econometrics to assess the causal impacts of the policies. He is currently involved in a research project funded by the National Institute on Disability and Rehabilitation Research, where he examines the effects of neighborhoods on the community inclusion of people with disabilities. His ultimate research goal is to reduce health disparities and advocate for inclusive institutions.
Before joining UT Dallas, Pyung Kim served as a research assistant at the Korea Institute of Public Administration, a national think tank operating under the Prime Minister. He obtained his B.A. in Public Administration from Ajou University, graduating with summa cumme laude. Subsequently, he obtained his MPA at Yonsei University in South Korea. Throughout his academic journey, he has been fortunate to receive several prestigious scholarships based on merit from the Korea Ministry of Education, the National Research Foundation of Korea, the Korean Association for Policy Studies, Ajou University, Yonsei University, and UT Dallas.
