Amber graduated with her Doctorate Degree in Physical Therapy from University of the Incarnate Word in 2018. Her career started at Baylor Scott & White Institute of Rehabilitation in Plano, Texas where she worked at a multidisciplinary clinic treating patients with orthopedic and neurological conditions. From 2019-2020, she completed a Baylor Scott & White Institute of Rehabilitation Oncology Residency. Upon completing her residency, she became a Mentor in the residency program from 2020-2021. In addition to the residency, she is also a clinical specialist certified with ReVital Cancer Rehabilitation and a certified lymphedema therapist. In 2021, Amber became San Antonio’s first APTA Board Certified Clinical Specialist in Oncologic Physical Therapy. She is an adjunct instructor with The George Washington University School of Medicine and Health Sciences School of Physical Therapy for a remote oncology elective course for students undergoing clinical rotations. Lastly, she also serves as an adjunct instructor with University of the Incarnate Word School of Physical Therapy Program for a clinical reasoning course within a problem-based learning curriculum.
During her time in the Dallas/Fort Worth area, Amber was a regional ReVital coordinator, which increased cancer rehabilitation services and established physician-based protocols throughout the Baylor Scott & White Institute of Rehabilitation System. Amber currently works in an outpatient setting in San Antonio, Texas, providing care for patients with cancer, lymphedema, and pelvic floor dysfunctions. Her interests include advocating for physical therapy legislative issues at the state and national level, mentoring clinicians, and providing awareness about cancer rehabilitation services. Overall, Amber is committed to sharing the transformative benefits of movement to inspire her patients to live well.
