I am Associate Professor of Psychology in the Department of Neurology, Division of Neuropsychology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB) Heersink School of Medicine. Previously the Director of the Divison of Rehabilitation Psychology at Spain Rehabilitation Center (SRC). My activities at UAB span research, teaching, direct clinical service and administrative responsibilities.
As a Board Certified Clinical Neuropsychologist, I assess the cognitive and affective status of patients with neurological conditions and offer treatment to patients and their families for rehabilitation of their cognitive impairments and psychosocial adjustment to their brain injury or dysfunction. Within my specialty treatment clinic, I frequently see adults referred with a primary diagnosis of Functional Movement Disorders (FMD). I am currently working with other clinicians at UAB on interdepartmental and interdisciplinary treatment of FMD across medical teams and ancillary services within UAB. I also provide Behavioral Health services for the UAB Cardiopulmonary Rehabilitation Program, including counseling, support groups, and classes in coping and stress management.
