Pediatric spinal cord injury (SCI) can result in significant primary and secondary complications that can have life altering consequences. Research is limited on the prevention of complications in this population; interdisciplinary collaboration is pivotal to mitigate secondary health complications, prevent re-hospitalization, and foster functional participation in everyday activities. Presentation goals include understanding the risk factors and consequences of developing scoliosis following pediatric spinal cord injury, distinguishing indications for custom orthosis and orthosis modifications following pediatric SCI, and understanding the benefits of using custom seating systems for the management and prevention of neuromuscular scoliosis.
