Learning Health Systems Research: Training for a New Paradigm in Rehabilitation Research 9597

The goals of this symposium are to describe learning health systems (LHS) research and federally funded resources and opportunities to facilitate learning health systems research in rehabilitation and long term services and supports (LTSS) The NIH-funded Learning Health Systems Rehabilitation Research Network (LeaRRn) offers a comprehensive program of training opportunities including webinars, podcasts, Institutes, a curated Resource Database, and Applied LeaRRning cases, an LHS scholar program, as well as pilot study funding. The AHRQ and PCORI funded Learning Health systems training to improve Disability and chronic condition care (LeaHD) center offers a mentored LHS Scientist training program for faculty, health systems personnel or postdoctoral fellows. Each LHS Scientist is paired with an academic mentor and a health systems mentor and participates in structured didactic training activities as well as embedded research with one of the LeaHD health system partners

Learning Objectives:

  • Appreciate the importance of and potential for Learning Health Systems Research in the field of rehabilitation.
  • Describe rehabilitation targeted training opportunities in learning health systems research that are provided by two federally funded resource and training centers.
  • Recognize how to access and utilize key resources available to develop learning health systems research competencies in rehabilitation
