Dr. Hintz is currently an Associate Professor at the University of Nevada, Reno – Orvis School of Nursing (OSN), where she also serves as the Post Masters DNP Program Coordinator. She holds a Doctorate of Nursing Practice with emphasis in Nursing Executive Leadership from the University of Nevada, Reno, and a PhD from Duquesne University, where she completed qualitative research on law enforcement officer health and wellness. Carrie completed her initial nursing education through an Associate Degree program at Great Basin College. She received a RN to BSN from Washington State University, and a Masters in Nursing & Healthcare Leadership from Duke University. Dr. Hintz recently graduated from the American Association of Colleges of Nursing’s Elevating Leaders in Academic Nursing (ELAN) fellowship, and holds multiple certifications in leadership and emergency room nursing.
Dr. Hintz returned to school in 2020 to pursue her PhD. Her dissertation work involved the exploration of the lived experiences of police officers on the front line and the effects of their job on the overall wellness of the individual. Her publications and presentations focus on pre-hospital care provider education and support. She regularly serves as a guest presenter for both Northern Nevada Law Enforcement Academies during their crisis intervention training. A role that has been greatly expanded to the Northern Nevada pre-hospital community in recent years. In 2023, Dr. Hintz also collaborated with a group of international nurses in the compilation of nursing mentorship stories from across the world.
