I am currently a Scientific Review Officer at the Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality, under the auspice of DHHS. I am in charge of one of the five study sections – Healthcare Systems & Value Research (HSVR) – and manage the conduct of peer review of extramural research applications with research foci in the areas of health system delivery and value, healthcare accessibility and affordability, insurance market, health care market, health economics, healthcare workforce, organization and functioning of the health systems, climate change and healthcare, innovation and implementation in health systems, costs and health expenditures, health disparities, and maternal health. Prior to current role, I was a program official at the same agency and led the patient-centered outcomes research training portfolio. In such capacity, I launched the very first “Learning Health Systems Mentored Career Development Program” which awarded 11 institutional training programs to produce the next generation of learning health system scientists through a K12 mechanism in 2018. Prior to AHRQ, I was a senior research associate at the MedStar National Rehabilitation Hospital. During my tenure with MedStar, I was involved in several multi-center studies examining the best practices of medical rehabilitation among patients with joint replacements, SCI, and stroke. I was also the inaugural research faculty for the MedStar National Rehabilitation Network Sports Medicine Physical Therapy Residency Program accredited by the American Physical Therapy Association.
I received my PhD from the Bloomberg School of Public Health at the Johns Hopkins University. I also hold an OT background in which I was trained in Taiwan and received my Master of Arts from Tufts University. I was a faculty at the School of Occupational Therapy in a top ranked university as well as a joint occupational therapist in its affiliated teaching hospital in Taiwan.
