Amit Kumar serves as an associate professor in the College of Health at the University of Utah. He specializes in health services research, focusing on health equity and policy evaluation. His research includes understanding the drivers of inequalities in post-acute rehabilitation care and validating interventions to promote health equity within rehabilitation settings. He studies the impact of social determinants of health and policy incentives on the quality of health services and disparities in health outcomes, with particular emphasis on rehabilitation care among people with disabilities. Dr. Kumar's research uses Medicare, healthcare systems, and qualitative data to understand the underlying mechanisms that influence the health of persons with disabilities
