The Rehabilitation Treatment Specification System (RTSS) is a conceptual framework and set of procedures for specifying rehabilitation interventions in ways that are expected to improve clinical education, research, and practice. This symposium will begin by introducing the need for acquiring indepth feedback on barriers and facilitators to using the RTSS, and summarize the results of a working conference to do so. Two workshop participants will illustrate the impact of RTSS consultation and refined specifications on their projects. This will be followed by outlining plans to address common barriers across many RTSS users, such as lack of standardly named and operationalized targets/ingredients and the need to refine categories/subcategories of mechanisms of action. We will conclude the presentation with an outlook on future work to help disseminate and implement the RTSS across rehabilitation.
