Albert Jay Meehan Ph.D. is a Professor of Sociology and Criminal Justice at Oakland University in Rochester MI. He is currently working with Professor Christina Papadimitriou in the School of Health Sciences on an Agency for Healthcare Research and Quality (AHRQ) grant titled “Developing a Standardized Process Assessment of Relationship-Centered Shared Decision-Making (SPARCSdm)” Co-Pi’s Christina Papadimitriou, PhD (Oakland University) & Trudy Mallinson, PhD (George Washington University),
Prior to coming to Oakland in 1987, Dr. Meehan earned his Ph.D.in Sociology at Boston University (1983), where he was a Research Associate at the Center for Criminal Justice at B.U.’s Law School. Subsequent to receiving his Ph.D., he was a National Institute of Mental Health Post-Doctoral fellow in the Department of Psychiatry at the University of Wisconsin Medical School in Madison WI. Professor Meehan’s research and publication background is in policing and his research has been published in both national and international academic journals. His applied research background includes working directly with police organizations to implement and assess problem-oriented policing efforts, and training social workers on the use of interaction analysis to create evidence-based best practices.
